Technically, the community quarantine’s now down to MGCQ (Modified General Community Quarantine). And because of that, we got to travel back to my hometown. I’ve seen how everyone now wear masks, although some were still not completely sold to the idea that they can get sick. Anyway, y’all might be wondering why I came up with a 2nd installment of “Quarantine Thoughts”.
Well, this is still related to my first Quarantine Thoughts post in the sense that I gave into my UAS (Ukulele Acquisition Syndrome), which I’ve been trying to hold back since last year. I know I just bought my very first ukulele early last year and you might say I’m such a frivolous person. But what can I do? I want an extra one because I feel like I deserve to be “pampered” every once in a while.
See? This is one bad case of UAS. Lol. Anyway, I bought a Pineapple Soprano Ukulele from the Music Shop Europe website for €67.50 (excluding shipping). The uke I picked is from Flight, which is a brand that’s highly recommended by ukulele players I follow on YouTube. I’ve started out with concert as it’s the safest choice for uke beginners (the first two I bought were both concert size ukes). But I chose the NUP310 (Flight Pineapple Soprano Ukulele) because I’ve been wanting to have a soprano-size ukulele for a long time now. As for the shape, I picked pineapple because it gives off a more traditional vibe.
This is the uke I impulsively purchased online 😆 :

As you can see, it’s bundled with a nice gig bag. This tiny instrument’s voice and build quality are pretty decent (not to mention the included gig bag in this price range), based on the reviews I watched on YouTube. I might also do a video review or probably a demo when I receive it. Not sure, though. I’ve been checking out several other brands like the Kala, Luna, Fender, etc. But it seems like Flight is one of the most recommended brands by the uke players who made reviews about it.
Alright enough with my ramblings. I placed the order a few days ago and I’m now starting to count the days until it gets delivered. It’s my first time ordering something from a Europe online store (that ships outside Europe) so I’m kind of more excited on how this one turns out. I hope it really really really turns out well. I’ll update this post once I get the package. See you!
Update (July 1, 2020): So I got an email from UPS with the tracking info, and much to my surprise, I wasn’t expecting it until after two weeks from the day I placed the order (June 26, 2020)! I won’t say (or even expect) the package to arrive on the date indicated on the tracking details so I don’t go through my nth heartbreak. Lol. I’ll wait till I finally have it in my hands.
Update 2 (July 9, 2020): It came today! Yay! It was supposed to be delivered on July 2nd, but it seems that the delivery team from Pampanga had a hard time securing a permit to enter our city. Hence, the one-week delay. Got no complaints, though. It was super fast, to be honest, considering it came all the way from the Netherlands.
This is the actual ukulele that I took a picture off:
